Client Information

We realize that the decision to seek legal counsel regarding a workplace dispute or issue is a difficult one. We understand that your rights may have been violated, that you may be confused by the process, and finding counsel to represent you is a daunting task. Please be assured that your communication with us will remain confidential and privileged.

Contact with our office generally proceeds in the following manner: intake, initial consultation, retainer agreement, case development and strategy.

INTAKE: When you first contact our office, we will ask that you provide us with a brief overview of your case and claims. This will assist us in determining whether we should meet to have an initial consultation to discuss your case in further detail. Although we do not charge for the intake, or first contact, we do charge clients for the initial consultation.

INITIAL CONSULTATION: At the initial consultation, we will meet to discuss your case with greater specificity and, depending on the information you give us, attempt to provide you with some suggestions and recommendations to resolve your matter. Accordingly, it is important that you be prepared for the initial consultation and bring any relevant documents or other information concerning your case. It is equally important that you be candid with us about your case and prepared not only to discuss the strengths of your case, but also any potential weaknesses or areas of concern. Please remember that employment law is very fact specific, and if you do not provide us with crucial information about your case, we will be greatly hindered in our efforts to represent you. After the initial consultation, we may also ask that you bring us additional information to help us better assess your case. We may also seek to undertake further investigation of your claims, if necessary.

RETAINER AGREEMENT: Once we have met and discussed your case, if we continue to be interested in representation, the Firm will require that you enter into a written retainer agreement. This agreement will outline the terms of the attorney/client relationship and our expectations. It will also set forth the terms of our representation which will be discussed with you in advance. It is our practice to work with clients to create an affordable billing arrangement. We will attempt to give you a fair assessment of the costs of your case and your potential damages, keeping in mind that litigation is uncertain and we cannot guarantee any set fee or outcome for your case. We do not have an attorney/client relationship until the written agreement is signed by both parties and any conditions in the agreement are actualized.

CASE DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGY: This is the fun part! We will work with you, on an individual and personalized basis, throughout your case and advise you concerning all aspects of your matter. Cooperation is key and essential. In order to have the best result for your case, you will need to work closely with us, pay your bill on time, listen to our advice, provide us with information we request and follow any instructions we give you. The relationship is reciprocal and we will consult with you as necessary concerning the status of your case and will not make any material decisions without your consent.
